Paul de Lumen

Born to Filipino immigrants in Oakland, California, Paul is an award-winning director of photography who works internationally in both the narrative and documentary genres. After working at Lucasfilm and graduating from the UCLA masters cinematography program, Paul began his career as a DP. In 2009 at the Huelva Latin-American Film Festival in Spain, he was awarded the ‘Colón de Plata’ for Best Cinematography for the Bolivian feature ZONA SUR, in which every scene was covered in a one-shot rotating master, which garnered praise in American Cinematographer magazine. ZONA SUR won Best International Feature at Sundance 2010. In 2015, the narrative feature YVY MARAEY earned him honors in CameraImage 2014, Berlinale 2015, and the NY MOMA. Recently, he has lensed the visuals for VH1’s Ashlee + Evan, HBO Sports doc: State of Play, Esquire Channel’s How I Rock It, Netflix feature doc Sneakerheadz, Go90’s scripted series The 5th Quarter, and YouTubeRed’s original series, Hyperlinked. He has also shot music videos for A$AP Ferg, Schoolboy Q, and Kendrick Lamar and campaigns for Nike and Adidas. Currently he’s in production for T-Pain’s School of Business on FUSE and Family Pictures USA for PBS. Versatile and relevant, he navigates the visuals of both fiction and non-fiction… and loves soccer.
